The Evolution of Resistance: A look at Burma's resistance movement

Throughout history there has always been resistance to Burma’s rulers whether they were monarchs, colonial, elected or self-appointed. While the armed resistance has always been well documented it has overshadowed the non-violent resistance offered by the populace throughout the history of the country. This article looks at the evolution of resistance within Burma, from that of armed insurgencies against the central authorities, to the present day non-violent struggle for change.
