Driven from their Homes: How the SPDC’s use of forced labour affects the lives of grassroots people in Burma

Saw Dee Dee, a Karen man, was driven from his home because of the constant demands for forced labour by the Burmese army. Injured whilst “working” for the Burmese army, Saw Dee Dee fled to Thailand. His story represents thousands of people who are forced to work for the Burmese army.

Saffron Revolution: Recent Protests in Burma

Recent protests in Burma saw thousands of people flocking to the streets calling for change. Whilst the Burmese junta violently suppressed the demonstrations, their voices were heard. The protests brought increased international awareness and action, as well as uniting the people of Burma. Are the protests just the beginning of a bigger movement for change?

Violence against Monks: The Generals’ Policies are a Bizarre Interpretation of the teaching of Buddha

The Burmese junta claims to the protector of Buddhism within Burma, and believe themselves’ to be morally superior to the population. The persecution, arrest, beatings and death of Monks have cast a shadow over the country and the world. This shadow has exposed the emptiness of their “guardian of Buddhism” claim and has shown the world once again the Burmese junta does not respect human life, liberty or dignity.
