Food shortages in Chin State: Bamboo flowers bring starvation, devastation and suffering to Chinland

Chin land faces food insecurity with roughly ten percent of the entire population directly affected by food shortages as a result of the flowering of the bamboo. The mass flowering of bamboo is usually followed by and explosion in the rat population leading to decimation of basic crops and paddy in the area. The Chin people are suffering from massive food shortage and many have fled their village and fled to neighboring countries.

Saw Eh Doh Doh’s land was forcibly taken by the Burmese soldiers and sadly he was force to work on his land to grow crops for the soldiers. He spent time working for the soldiers without payment; his family has less food to survive.
