This project aims to support activists who have a vision for true change in Burma, are responsible and disciplined and are clear in the nature of their commitment for the long-term struggle. Whilst we support activist, we are also very careful to make sure that we are not affiliated with any party involved in the conflict in Burma.
The Administrative Team responds to and carriers out support for Burma issues projects and staff, running the financial system and making sure that BI has the appropriate financial backing. The dedicated team offers assistance when requested and are a vital component of the BI organisation.
But while we support people committed to changing Burma, we are also committed to ensuring out staff are up-to-date with relevant social, economic and political information. To achieve this we offer our staff Training. The information that is passes onto our staff is passed onto the grassroots, so that they can understand the situation in Burma and can make informed decisions about the future. Our workshops cover a range of topics, from human rights abuses to fundraising to video distribution. BI wants to educate their staff so that they have the capacity to be self-sufficient within the organisation.
One project that has benefited from the organisational training is the Human Rights Documentation. By being kept up to date on latest development in human rights abuses and international law, it allows for better collection and organisation of information on Human Rights violations and better research and analysis on the issue.
The Village Organising and Children's Education projects aim to provide the grassroots people information to empower them. Both projects hope to give their respective target groups the necessary knowledge so that they have power to think and plan for a different future. They also prepare these marginalised communities to be the foundation for the future society of peace and justice.
