Financial support for our work
Peace Way Foundation is a non-profit organisation working towards peace in Burma.
We rely on funding from the international community to continue
our work. If you are interested in donating money or becoming
a funder, please continue reading and
do not hesitate to contact us.
Help support the ongoing work of Peace Way Foundation by making an online donation.
Any amount, however large or small, provides vital support
to our struggle for peace and justice in Burma. And all
the money we receive goes directly to furthering our activites
and projects.
Currently Burma Issues has around 80 staff, with two-thirds
of them working in the civil war zone in eastern Burma.
The over 90 per cent of staff are ethnic people from Burma,
who are working with their own communities to create a better
future for all people from Burma – a future that is based
on human rights and justice for all.
US$5 pays for one participant’s training
materials when they attend our non-violent, community organising
and leadership training course.
US$10 provides one video tape for the
Video Project, which can use this tape to record people’s
stories and testimonies from the grassroots communities,
which are compiled and shown to the international community.
US$20 covers the costs of printing a years
worth of photos for one of our projects. The photos are
used to document the situation in Burma and in our publications
and advocacy activities.
US$50 can provide one audio tape recorder
for a field worker which can be used to record interviews
with villagers, which are then used in our many publications
and advocacy activities.
US$100 can provide equipment (such as
good quality boots, hammock, backpack and basic first aid
kit) which is necessary for working in Burma’s jungle for
a field staff member. This equipment can last between three
and five years.
US$200 covers the printing and distribution
costs of 600 storybooks for children. These books are distributed
to children in internally displaced persons areas inside
Burma’s ethnic areas, and along the Thai-Burma border to
migrant and refugee schools.
US$250 pays for weekly communication between
field staff and Burma Issues management team for up to six
months. This weekly communication enables staff to keep
up to date on situational developments and greatly mitigates
the risks to their safety working inside Burma.
US$500 can pay for one field staff member’s
salary for entire year.
Whatever the level of donation, it will be greatly appreciated
and will contribute to the achievement of Burma Issues’
mission.
We use Paypal to receive payments, a confidential, secure and encrypted payment service that enables you to use your credit card to make a donation straight into our account.
Please note that the Paypal service keeps 3.9% plus 0.30US$ of your donation as a service charge. For donations of US$1 to US$300 this is less than the cost of an international bank transfer charge. For amounts greater than this it may be cheaper to do a bank transfer, although you are still welcome to use the Paypal service.
If you would like to make a donation by bank transfer, please contact us at burmaissues@burmaissues.org
The Peace Way Foundation is committed to continuing a long-term process of building up and supporting the grassroots movement for justice and true peace in Burma. Therefore it is necessary for us to implement a plan to maintain our work into the future.
Support from trusts, foundations, donor countries and organisations can make a huge difference to our work and we always welcome the opportunity to build successful relationships with new and existing partners. Together we can help provide a better future for the marginalised people of Burma.
We prepare two activity reports each year: the Annual and Mid-Year Reports. An official financial audit report is included with the Annual Report and all of these reports are available to funding partners. These reports also trace the development of each project.
All unspent monies from a financial year are subtracted from the new term so there is no accumulation of unspent money. In the event that there are some unspent funds at the end of a financial year that the Peace Way Foundation would like to use for a special cause, funding partners will be contacted and their approval sought first.
