International Peace Campaign

To build up international awareness and support for the struggle in Burma by acting as a bridge between the grassroots people of Burma and international community in such a way that the grassroots people help international support groups focus actions on the most critical issues which prolong the country's cycle of war.

The Research and Publication project aims to link the international community with the struggle of the grassroots in Burma. It does this through publishing a monthly, issue-orientated newsletter and by producing special reports to raise awareness of the root causes of conflict in Burma and to suggest non-violent ways for working towards change. These publications are aimed at creating international dialogue about deep-seeded issues within Burma.

The Human Rights Documentation project also works to link the international community with the situation in Burma. It analyzes the information on human rights abuses it gathers and sends it internationally so that BI and other groups can make informed decisions regarding Burma.

Additionally the Video project produces documentaries that can be the voice of the people's movement in Burma to the international community. A full list of BI produced videos can be seen in our resource section.

But the international community is not just the English speaking parts of the world. We also have a strong commitment to raising awareness among Thai people about the democratic struggle in Burma. Thai research staff work to distribute information to Thais and to participate in local campaigns about creating a better situation for the people of Burma.
